How to Compare International Parcel Shipping Services

Sources checked

Once you have two quotes for the same packed parcel, compare what each route includes. A cheaper quote can be fine when you can wait and the delivery arrangements suit you. A route with clearer tracking or a more practical pickup option can matter more when you will be away during delivery.

Record the same four details for each route

  1. Eligibility. Check that the service accepts your destination and parcel contents. Restricted-item checklist
  2. Delivery. Write down the estimate and ask when its clock starts. If timing matters, ask whether the service publishes a delivery commitment and what exclusions apply.
  3. Tracking and handoff. Ask whether the destination carrier is named, how to find a local tracking number and what pickup or signature options are available for that service. Some services offer proof of delivery for eligible shipments. DHL shipping and delivery FAQ
  4. Protection. If coverage is offered, ask what events and amounts are covered, who can file, what evidence is required and when the deadline starts. Check the terms for the route you are buying. Carrier offerings can have their own conditions and exclusions. DHL Express example of value protection terms

Save both quotes and any written clarification with your parcel confirmation.
